February 12 | VOICE & SONG ANALYSIS with Megan Lynn Schmidt

 

Class Description

Movement & Voice 6:00-7:00 PM | Ages 8-13:

Sometimes your words spin the story, and sometimes your body tells the tale. In this interactive class, explore how to connect your vocalization to your movement. Megan will lead you through games and exercises to help you get into your natural voice. Come have fun learning how to partner your movement and voice, whether speaking or singing.

Song Analysis Master Class 7:15-8:15 PM | Ages 11-18

Come workshop a song in your repertoire to find deeper meaning behind the lyrics! Spend some time with Megan digging into the words of a song you've been working on recently. Let her help you make connections between what your words are doing for the music, and what the notes are doing for the story you are telling.

meet MEGAN

Megan is a 2020 graduate of Ithaca College where she earned her BFA in Musical Theatre. From 2021-2022 Megan worked as a Tour Actor/Director with the Missoula Children’s Theatre. During this time, she performed and directed Johnny Appleseed, Alice in Wonderland, and The Snow Queen, traveling across the USA and overseas in Cuba, Japan, and South Korea. Megan is a full-time voice and musical teacher with Popovsky Performing Arts Studio. Some of Megan’s most notable onstage credits include Maria Rainer, The Sound of Music (Servant Stage); Rhonda, Fancy Nancy (Vital Theatre); Evelyn Nesbit, Ragtime (NCC Summer Theatre); Sister Mary Patrick, Sister Act (Ithaca College); Olive Ostrovsky, The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee (Ithaca College); Feste, Twelfth Night (Ithaca College). Megan has also performed in various NYC cabarets.
