Class Description

Learn how actors use a script and their imagination to build a character. Students will explore posture, physicality, voice, backstory, and motivation to create specific and believable character choices. Through fun, on-your-feet exercises, students will experiment with different ways to bring a character to life!

Lauren Schaeffer is excited to share practical tools, encouragement, and inspiration with students as they grow their acting skills and confidence. A Liberty University alum with an interdisciplinary degree combining theatre, ministry, and psychology, Lauren has enjoyed working with young performers on junior productions including Anastasia, The Lion King, Frozen, Aladdin, Once on This Island, Newsies, Into the Woods, Something Rotten, and Dear Edwina. She especially loves helping students discover how to build a character from the script, make thoughtful physical and vocal choices, and bring a character to life with confidence and imagination. When she isn't working on theatre projects, Lauren is grateful to be raising three daughters with her husband, JT.
