Class Description
Join us for an evening of building character - Stanislavski-style! Whether you are familiar with his acting methodology or not, you can expect to explore this performance topic through the “elements of an action” including - The Magic If, Imagination, Given Circumstances, and Concentration of Attention. This class will include some full group work as well as some individualized masterclass work, so please bring along a monologue, if you have one, and get ready to come at your character from a new angle.

meet John
John Allen Biles is a professional stage actor and a member of Actors’ Equity Association. Over his 20+ year career, he appeared Off-Broadway and regionally. Selected credits: 1776 (Pittsburgh Public Theater); Gypsy (North Shore Music Theater); Cabaret, The Full Monty, Boy Gets Girl (Montgomery Theater); Opa! (QTIP); Ragtime, The Producers, Singin’ in the Rain, Big River, Aladdin (Peach State Summer Theater); Peter Pan, Children of Eden (Pittsburgh Musical Theater); The Last Five Years (The Company of Pittsburgh). He performed with five touring productions of the award-winning theater for young audiences company, Theatreworks USA (A Christmas Carol, Footprints on the Moon, The Mystery of King Tut, The Midnight Ride of Paul Revere). He is the current director of musical theater at Solanco High School (Seussical, The Secret Garden, Guys and Dolls, Godspell), and is the advisor to SHS Drama Troupe #1004. He directed plays at SHS from 2017 – 2021 (Our Town, The Imaginary Invalid, Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead, Radium Girls, Peter and the Starcatcher). BFA Theater, Point Park University.
