June 13 | DANCE with Rebecca Gentry

Dance

Rebecca Gentry

Swing into Summer with this fun, upbeat class! Jive, first demonstrated by singer, songwriter, and dancer Cab Calloway, is a lively style of dance popular especially in the 1940s and 50s, performed to swing music or rock and roll. Characterized by energetic kicks and flicks, it is one of the most stylized and playful styles of ballroom and latin dance. Students will learn the basics of the dance and to recognize its style of music. They will also learn a short piece of choreography. Though Jive is traditionally a partner dance, no partner will be necessary to participate in the class.
